As spiritual beings having a human experience on this planet, we get to use our five senses to grasp the world around us. Through sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste, we can gather information about our environment. For psychics, we use the same senses, but on a different plane. The things we can see or taste are not physically in front of us, rather they are in our mind’s eye. This extra-sensory perception is known as Clair senses.
Clair means clear. The psychic receives messages as a clear channel and can get them in varying manners. Not all psychics are the same or have the same abilities. Some can see the dead, others may only hear them. Each of us is unique in the way we translate these communications from spirit. So I will explain how these Clair senses show up when I do readings.
CLAIRVOYANCE: This is my predominant Clair. Clairvoyance means clear-sight. Via this sense I am able to see images and symbols and convey the meaning to my client. However, my symbols are not always literal. Often an image spirit shows me is meant to get me to say something else. For other psychics they might know that a snake is always a snake. If you don’t have a slithery pet, then I know that someone has betrayed you.
CLAIRCOGNIZANCE: Clear-knowing. This comes across when I feel I have to just spit things out and I don’t know why. Clear-knowing is just an overwhelming sensation of “I have to tell them this,” and so I do, even though I didn’t see an image, or hear a message. Usually names come to me in this way. While sometimes I might just get the first initial of the name, more often than not I will just know someone’s name. I once got the name Ernesto. Exactly. It turned out to be my client’s Uncle if I remember correctly.
CLAIRAUDEINCE: Clear-hearing. At this point I have sort of turned-off my ability to hear spirit talk. I started sleeping with a TV on in my room when I was small because I could hear voices at night. To this day if the AC is on or there is a fan running, any sort of white noise will make me hear voices; I just can’t discern what they are saying. I never really let myself turn this ability all the way up. But maybe one day I will crank it up to 11! For now, my clear-hearing is sort of like clear-knowing. A song might play on repeat in my head and then I will know that the lyrics mean something for someone. I have heard the sound of an airplane crash the night before there is an accident. The way this Clair usually comes through for me is hearing bagpipes. Once I hear “Going Home” then I know that an officer is going to pass away.
CLAIRSENTIENCE: This is an interesting one for me. It usually manifests when I need to communicate a health issue. If I feel a lump in my throat it could mean someone had throat cancer, a tightness in my chest could be a heart attack. Sometimes these feelings happen to me way before I even get to the appointment. A few months ago my left ear was killing me. I had flown a few weeks before and the pressure really got to me. But I woke up the morning of a psychic party and was nearly in tears from the pain. I could barely hear out of that ear. I almost cancelled the event. But I sucked it up and went. There were only a few women who showed up to the party and I started right away by saying – “OK, I need to know – who has hearing issues?” Wouldn’t you know one woman was born mostly deaf in her left ear! Once it was validated, the pain in my own ear went away.
There are other types of Clairs that psychics use to convey their messages, these just happen to be the ones I am most familiar with, since they are a part of my life. People who don’t believe they have psychic powers probably have experienced some of these in their lifetime.
